NEW MIAMI, OH (FOX19) -

A man died while tubing in the Four Mile Creek near New Miami.

Daniel Earnest and James Johnson was on inner tubes in the creek near Treiber Road in St. Clair Township around 10 p.m. Friday night, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

Johnson said the two got separated in the dark and Earnest's inner tube floated down stream. Johnson was not sure if Earnest, 35, had gotten out of the water or had fallen off the inner tube.

Family members and New Miami Police and Fire conducted a search and Earnest's body was found on the bank near Seven Mile Ave. and Fox Ave. around 3:30 a.m.

The area where he was found has swift moving currents and the depths vary from chest to knee deep water, according to Butler County Sheriff's Office.
