CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Community members across the Tri-State are taking to social media, posting condolences to the 50 people shot and killed inside a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Many people are calling for peace across the world in light of the attacks.

Equality Ohio is asking people mourning to wear white ribbons at school and at work in solidarity with everybody affected by this incident.

"That the largest shooting in modern American history happened at a gay bar is a sign that we have a long, long way to go," stated Equality Ohio Executive Director Alana Jochum.

The organization said it can't put into words the loss everyone feels.

"Equality Ohio extends the deepest of sympathy to the victims and surviving friends and family in Orlando’s LGBTQ community. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.”
