CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Following a nationwide search, Cincinnati State has appointed its sixth president.
Dr. Monica Posey, 60, is a University of Cincinnati alumni, and former Interim President at Cincinnati State, making her the first president hired from within the school since 1994.
Posey is the schools first female president. Commenting on the fact Friday during her first public statement at President, "I am also the first African American female that we know of who has led a higher education institution in greater Cincinnati."
In her remarks, Posey focused on the purpose of an education at Cincinnati State. Saying, "It's all about workforce development. It's about the fact that we're the best institution to meet employers' needs to provide the talent to make sure we have a skilled work force."
Posey plans on collaborating with government and community organizations, along with local businesses. Focusing on the needs of employers as well as the needs of the students to help ensure students are set up for their best shot at employment after graduation.
The Cincinnati State Board of Trustees voted unanimously to confirm Posey on Monday.
