OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19 NOW) -

ArtWorks' 2016 Summer Apprentice Program kicks off Monday when the first brushstrokes are made on a portrait of Maysville native Rosemary Clooney.

The larger-than-life painting will be completed by a team of 12 Artworks apprentices aged 14 to 21 with the help of five professional artists.

“Swing Around Rosie” will be located on the corner of Liberty and Pleasant streets.

A rendering of the finished work shows the beloved singer depicted in her iconic gown from “White Christmas.”

Clooney was selected as the subject of the mural through a public vote earlier this year.

The mural is one of 23 that will be painted this summer. In total, Artworks will employ 143 local youths, with the goal of beatifying the city through public art.
