COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Friends and family gathered Tuesday night to remember the 11-year-old girl who was killed at an Indiana summer camp.

Jadyn Larky died when a tree fell on to her cabin at Camp Livingston in Switzerland County. The sheriff's office said Larky, three adult staffers and other campers were inside the cabin around 2 a.m. when lightning struck the tree, causing it to fall on the building.

The prayer vigil was held in her hometown of Bexley, Ohio just outside of Columbus.

"We've been a part of this family's life since our children were babies together. I know that when they speaking to their children, I should say when we are speaking to our children, we are all having trouble not crying because we know but for circumstances this could be our child," said Kyle Katz, family friend.

Switzerland County saw two inches of rain in one hour when thunderstorms swept through early Tuesday, according to county emergency management officials.

Funeral arrangements are planned for Thursday, according to Larky’s uncle.
