CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - By: Jacob Stansell
The Cincinnati Reds reinstated right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen from the 60-day disabled list Wednesday and in turn placed right-handed Alfredo Simon on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right trapezius.
Lorenzen, who experienced a sprained right elbow back in March, spent time with the Louisville Bats where he pitched a total of four games to serve as his rehab assignment.
During the duration of his Triple-A action, Lorenzen maintained an 0.00 ERA in a relief role and gave up only two hits in addition to collecting seven strikeouts.
The Reds have made Lorenzen available to pitch and positioned him in the bullpen among other big names, including Raisel Iglesias, JJ Hoover and Tony Cingrani.
