A Bethel man is facing distribution and possession of child porn charges after a two-year FBI investigation.

In August of 2014, a task force officer in the FBI was conducting an investigation into subjects possessing and distributing child pornography using a public file sharing program. The officer found an IP address that belonged to Robert Crider, according to court documents.

An investigation from September of 2014 to February of 2016 showed the IP address in question had at least 42 child pornography files in the system, according to the criminal complaint.

FBI officials executed a search warrant at Crider's residence on Crane SchoolHouse Road and brought the suspect in for questioning. Crider allegedly admitted to investigators that he had been viewing child pornography for eight years and would also use his cell phone to view child porn.

Crider is charged with distribution and receipt in interstate commerce of a visual depiction involving the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and possession of a visual depiction involving the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
