CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A court ordered that University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono will have to testify in the trial of Ray Tensing, who is accused of murdering Sam DuBose.

Ono accepted the position to become President and Vice Chancellor at the University of British of Columbia and will be heading to his new position in mid-July.

Tensing's team filed a motion asking to depose Ono for his testimony in the fatal shooting DuBose. Judge Megan Shanahan approved the motion on Thursday.

The former UC police officer is charged with murder and voluntary manslaughter after he shot and killed the unarmed DuBose during a traffic stop last summer.

The murder trial is set to begin on October 24.
