CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants you to keep your hands out of the raw cookie dough.
Eating uncooked dough could make you sick, and it may not be because of the eggs.
According to the FDA, the flour you're using could be contaminated with a strain of E. coli.
General Mills recently recalled 10 million pounds of flour linked to the outbreak.
The recalled flour was sold under three brand names, including Gold Medal, Signature Kitchen's, and Gold Medal Wondra. The FDA advises if you have any of those recalled items in your home, throw them away, although the outbreak could be present in other brands as well.
The agency is advising you to wash your hands after you handle any brand of uncooked flour, and to refrain from giving your kids homemade play dough, which is made with flour and could also contain the dangerous bacteria.
