Ways to save at Disney

Simply Money: Saving money at Disney (VIDEO)

FOX19 - A trip to Disney brings some magical memories for families. But it also comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

Here is some advice straight from the experts on ways you can save a Disney.

  • Stay at the value resorts: These are some of the least expensive rooms.  Disney World has nearly 9,000 rooms in the value category. You can book one for less than a $100 per night in their off-season times - usually late August, September and January.

  • Check Disney's special offers page

  • Dress up your kids yourself: If your little princess is dying for a makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique - skip the $50 to $200 price tag and book an appointment at the Disney Harmony Barber Shop instead. For less than $20, they’ll get a haircut complete with stickers and pixie dust.

  • Pay for the trip using Disney gift cards: You can buy these at Kroger, which you can get fuel points for.

  • Pay careful attention to the trip information Disney sends you: Hidden in there will be several pages of coupons you can use on dining and other Disney attractions.

  • Make your own meals: Guests are allowed to bring food items—such as snacks or foods that do not require heating—into Disney theme parks.

  • Wait to buy souvenirs: Disney World has a variety of souvenir shops, but shopping can get pricey.  You should consider purchasing souvenirs before or after visiting the park. Virtually everything you see in a Disney World gift shop can be found for much less online.
