Vandal cuts down 17 newly planted trees in Covington

COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

Covington police have a unique investigation on their hands after 17 newly planted trees were cut in half overnight.

Investigators said they're canvassing the area for surveillance trying to figure out who did the damage. 

The trees that were vandalized line Holman Avenue near Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. Officials said the trees cost about $250 each and they were just put up by the city. 

Officials said if someone is caught, they will face criminal mischief charges. 

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
