FOX19 - Small sport utility vehicles did poorly in new headlight tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-3 performed the best, but more than half received the lowest ranking.

Starting next year, the IIHS won't give its coveted highest safety award to any vehicles with poor headlights.

IIHS plans to conduct headlight tests on pickups next.
