CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A year of planning will finally come to fruition Thursday as the massive restoration of Union Terminal begins.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place 10 a.m. in front of the iconic building.
The nearly $213 project will make repairs to the exterior/interior structure as well as the driveway fountain and grounds, according to Museum Center officials.
In days to come a temporary lobby will be constructed inside the rotunda to allow visitor access and scaffolding will be built around the exterior of the structure.
Fencing is already in place, visitor and AMTRAK d rop-off is now at the base of the fountain.
There is still plenty to see at the Museum Center during the 2-year restoration.
The Special Exhibit Gallery will remain open, currently showing "DaVinci, The Genius."
The Duke Energy Children's Museum will also be open during the duration of the project.
