UNION TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) – - A memorial ride will be held for U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin Sunday.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. at Glen Este High School, 4342 Glen Este-Withamsville Rd.
The ride beings at noon.
Maupin and his fellow soldiers were victims of an insurgent ambush attack near Baghdad International Airport on Good Friday 2004.
He was 20-years-old at the time of his capture and was the first Army Reserve POW since the Vietnam era.
His remains were identified in 2008.
In 2014, Maupin's father, Keith Maupin, said government officials informed him that an Iraqi inmate admitted to killing his son.
