NORTH AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Excessive speed appears to be a factor in a two-vehicle crash that killed a 50-year-old female passenger on a motorcycle early Sunday, Cincinnati police said.

Officers responded to the 3800 block Reading Road near Clinton Springs Avenue at 12:45 a.m., traffic officers said in a prepared statement.

When they arrived, they concluded a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle that was heading northbound on Reading Road struck the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet Impala also traveling northbound on the road as it changed lanes.

The passenger on the Suzuki, Catherine Cameron, was thrown from the bike, they said.

She was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

She was not wearing a helmet, they said.

The motorcyclist, Darrell Sneed, 42, had minor injuries. He wore a helmet.

The driver of the Impala was not hurt. She wore a seat belt.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Excessive speed appears to be a factor.
