NEWTOWN, OH (FOX19) - Five suspects are facing charges after a Newton home invasion early Sunday morning.
Police were dispatched to the home on Church Street at around 1:30 a.m.
When police arrived, they found the homeowner had been pistol whipped and had items stolen from him. All of the suspects had fled the home before they arrives, police said.
Authorities were able to arrest three of the five suspects. The fourth suspect has been identified and police have partially identified the fifth.
Officers were aware of drug allegations at the home and were pursuing an investigation prior to the home invasion, according to Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan. He believes the home invasion was not a random act.
After getting a search warrant, investigators found drugs, paraphernalia, weapons and cash inside the home.
An investigation is continuing and charges of drug trafficking, permitting drug abuse, aggravated burglary and kidnapping along with more apprehensions are expected on all the parties involved in this incident.
