WEST END, OH (FOX19) -

A 33-year-old man is scheduled to face a judge Monday on charges he cut a police officer's arm at a weekend homicide scene.

Mareo Akins of Forest Park faces several charges: assault, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, misconduct at an emergency and drug possession charges at the Hamilton County jail.

He is accused of crossing police crime scene tape at a West End homicide scene Saturday, court records show.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint he ignored officer's orders to stop and removed the blanket covering a victim, causing the body to move.

When police tried to arrest him, he cut an officer's left arm, the complaint states.

"I believe there was only one officer assaulted and the injuries were not significant," Cincinnati police spokesman, Lt. Steve Saunders, wrote to FOX19 NOW in an email Monday.

Akins was taken into custody and booked into the county jail shortly after 4 p.m.

Deputies said they found a small baggie of marijuana in his left front pants pocket when they searched him at the jail, court records state.
