Police: Man targeted children (VIDEO)

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A 65-year-old man faces 24 charges in connection with sexual contact with children, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

On July 15, deputies responded to an address in the Stone Bridge Apartment Complex for a report of a man attempting to have sexual contact with several children, sheriff's officials said Monday.

"There's a lot - lots of kids always outside," said Ashley Gabbard, a resident at the Stone Bridge Apartment Complex.

The following day, deputies received another call about the same man, identified as Parposh Kumar, this time alleging some form of sexual contact had occurred.

"This is a horrific thing for these children," said Warren County Sheriff's Office Lt. John Faine. "We're talking about very young children - younger than age 13 that have been exposed to this."

Kumar of India, was arrested and charged in a 24-count indictment. He faces 10 counts of gross sexual imposition, four counts of attempted gross sexual imposition, three counts of importuning, one count of criminal child enticement and six counts of public indecency.

Authorities said Kumar was staying with relatives at the apartment complex when the incidents occurred.

"He was very active in that apartment complex," said Lt. Faine. "There could easily be other children there that have been approached."

Kumar is currently being held in the Warren County Jail. He's expected to face a judge Wednesday.

The incident remains under investigation by the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Faine at 513-695-1522.
