MASON, OH (FOX19) - After months of speculation, Kings Island officials confirmed a new wooden roller coaster is under construction for the 2017 season.
Mystic Timbers is set to open in April, park officials announced late Thursday night. It is Kings Island's 16th coaster.

The two-minute ride boasts 16 "air-time" hills, a mid-course tunnel, an extreme "S-curve" and will interact with the park's train and White Water Canyon attractions.
Mystic Timbers will be 3,265 feet in length, reach 109 feet in height and reach speeds up to 53 mph. It's themed around a lumber company being overrun by a mysterious overgrowth of vines, according to a release from the park.
The ride makes Kings Island the world record holder for most wooden roller coaster track - that's five wooden coasters and 18,800 feet of track inside the park.
Three trains will accommodate 24 passengers each (four riders per car and six cars per train) with a capacity of 1,200 riders per hour. Guests must be at least 48 inches tall to ride.
