Store clerk shoots robbery suspect

CHEVIOT, OH (FOX19) - Cheviot Police are investigating after they said a store clerk shot a suspected robber late Friday night.

Investigators said a man in his mid to late 20s walked into the Harrison Food Mart on Harrison Ave around 11pm. He was reportedly wearing a gray hoodie, latex surgical gloves and a mask. Police said he held the clerk at gunpoint.

The clerk is a licensed conceal carry permit holder. We're told he was able to defend himself by firing his own weapon at the suspect.

The suspect then fled the store and was taken into custody near the food mart.

He was taken to UC Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

Cheviot Police said the suspect had no identification on him and they cannot identify him at this time.
