A large gathering of Hyde Park residents opposed to a church expansion plan listened, learned, and asked questions Tuesday night at Clark Montessori High School.
The group that's been blanketing Hyde Park with signs saying "Honor your promise" announced that they've given the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church several options of other sites for an activity center and parking lot. They say they've gotten no official response.
The parking lot would go where two houses currently are and an activity center would be added to an old monastery building.
Mike Schoeny with "Preserve Hyde Park" tells FOX 19, "I hope they can see that within the neighborhood the neighbors are not in favor of this and they should recognize that and be sensitive to that."
Tuesday night the church released a statement to the media saying, "...these concerns are premature, as the church has adopted no designs of any kind." The statement goes on to say, "...our congregation will vote as a group to determine what the church ultimately proposes to do."
