The Sister Accord Foundation is asking women and girls to do something sweet... spread love on Sister Accord Day!
The organization is a global, grassroots movement focused on fostering love, trust, and loyalty between girls and women of all walks of life. The purpose is to change how women treat, support, and interact with each other.
A celebration for Sister Accord Day is being held at Sweet Petit Desserts on Race Street in downtown Cincinnati from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31. The bakery's founder, Taren Kinebrew, has created a special dessert for the occasion, Sister Accord LOVE Bites. The LOVE Bites are a combination of mini strawberry cupcakes and sweet buttercream frosting. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of LOVE Bites will be donated to the foundation.
Council Member Yvette Simpson will present remarks at the event while love-themed musical numbers will be performed by saxophonist Ed Thomas.
“I'm so excited that what started locally here in Cincinnati has spread all over the world from India to Africa. Sister Accord Day 2016 is going to be another day of spreading love," Founder of The Sister Accord, Sonia Jackson Myles said.
The foundation has three global areas of focus. First, to educate girls and women. Second, to enlighten girls and women with the power of sisterhood, and third, to eradicate bullying and violence against females.
“I am on a mission to have one billion girls and women learn to love themselves and extend that love to each other,” said Myles. “Imagine a world where this is our reality.”
