SpaceX explodes before test at Cape Canaveral

RNN - - Massive clouds of black smoke were spotted at Cape Canaveral, FL, by several Twitter users Thursday morning.

Explosions were reported at Cape Canaveral before a test of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, but SpaceX has not released a statement yet.

There are no reports of injuries, said William Harwood, a space reporter with CBS News. He reported that the rocket was about five minutes from an engine hotfire test when the explosion and a number of secondary explosions occurred.

Robin Seemangal, a reporter with the Observer, tweeted that a source told her the explosion shook the entire Operations and Checkout building. She said the rocket is currently in flames.

The unmanned rocket was scheduled to launch Saturday, AP reported.
