Buckeyes set new school record in 77-10 opening win

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio State set a new school record on Saturday with 776 total yards of offense in a 77-10 win over Bowling Green.

The Buckeyes trailed early when J.T. Barrett threw an interception returned for a touchdown, but never looked back in one of the most lopsided wins in OSU history.

Barrett completed 21 of 31 passes for 349 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 30 yards and one touchdown, setting a new school record with his seven total touchdowns in one game.

Junior H-Back Curtis Samuel may have been the most impressive aside from Barrett with his 261 all-purpose yards, 177 receiving and 84 rushing, and three touchdowns in the win.

Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber also impressed in his debut with 19 carries for 136 yards averaging 7.2 yards a carry.

Ohio State will play at home again next Saturday for a showdown with Tulsa at 3:30 p.m. The Buckeyes hit the road to face No. 3 Oklahoma the following week, who was upset by No. 15 Houston on Saturday 33-23.
