A 4-year-old is headed to South Carolina after police said they found him in the backseat of a pickup truck with two passed-out adults, including his mother.

According to the East Liverpool, Ohio, police report posted to the city's Facebook page, officers found the truck around 3 p.m. Wednesday after reports of erratic driving.

The report said an officer reached inside of the truck and turned off the key after finding the boy's mother, Rhonda L. Pasek, 50, was unconscious and the driver, James Lee Acord, 47, was beginning to lose consciousness.

Pasek and Acord, both of New Cumberland, WV, were revived with Narcan and taken to a local hospital, the report stated. It also said a pink powdery substance was found in the car and was sent to a lab for testing.

Pasek was arraigned Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty. Her bond was set at $150,000. She'll be back in court on Sept. 15.

Acord was arraigned as well. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 360 days in jail.

The police department put the photos on Facebook to share a powerful message to help stop the epidemic: "We feel we need to be a voice for the children caught up in this horrible mess."

The post continued, "We are well aware that some may be offended by these images and for that we are truly sorry, but it is time that the non-drug-using public sees what we are now dealing with on a daily basis."

East Liverpool is about 40 miles south of Youngstown, Ohio.

The child has been placed in the custody of Acord's sister and brother-in-law out of state.
