CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

What turned out to be a bag of laundry prompted a bomb scare Downtown Thursday.

A suspicious blue bag was spotted near Cincinnati City Hall on Plum Street about 10 a.m.

Police blocked sidewalks and shut down Plum between Seventh and Eighth streets.

News crews came running.

Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach breathlessly tweeted breaking developments.

The Cincinnati Bomb Squad responded and sent their robot by the bag to investigate.

A FOX19 NOW photographer on scene observed the device dump out the bag's contents.

Laundry that appeared to be clothing and bedding tumbled out.

Police announced the bag was not a threat.
