MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Two toddlers were hospitalized with serious injuries after an ATV rollover accident in western Hamilton County.

Crews responded to a report of a southbound Honda ATV rolling over in the 4700 block of East Miami River Road  about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew C. Peace, 42 of Cleves was operating a 2009 Honda Foreman ATV with his 3-year-old grandson and the 2-year-old son of a family friend on the seat in front of him when one of the boys grabbed the handle bar.

That caused the vehicle to rollover onto its side, ejecting all three riders, sheriff's officials said.

The 3-year-old was so badly hurt, he was initially unresponsive before paramedics arrived.

The extend of the 2-year-old's injuries were not immediately known, sheriff's officials said.

Both toddlers were transported via ambulance to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

They were listed in serious but stable condition late Tuesday.

Green Township paramedics treated and released Peace at the scene.

Speed, alcohol and drugs of abuse did not contribute to the crash, sheriff's investigators said.

None of the riders were wearing protective equipment such as helmets.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit.
