Police increase patrols after report of man in clown mask chasing students

SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) - Police are stepping up patrols in Springfield Township Friday as they investigate a report of a man wearing a clown mask chasing students.

Springfield Township officers were summoned to the 8900 block of Fontainebleau Terrace just before 7 a.m.

Dispatchers said they received "multiple reports" of a man wearing a clown mask and blue pants chasing students.

Finneytown school officials also arrived and conferred at the scene with police as they worked together to try to determine what occurred.

So far, they said they cannot confirm that a clown was in the area. Police are still investigating.

"Springfield Township police have told Finneytown schools that they are investigating an alleged incident this morning," wrote school district spokeswoman Krista Ramsey in a prepared statement.

"No Finneytown student was involved and nothing occurred on our campus. Police have told us they have added extra patrols in the community simply as a precaution today, and any other student statements will come from the Springfield Township police."

The mother of one of the students tells FOX19 NOW her daughter, 16, fell as she ran in fear and possibly suffered a twisted ankle.

She said the students were waiting to take a bus to Scarlet Oaks vocational school in Sharonville.

Dispatchers confirm they received a report of a girl falling and possibly suffering a twisted ankle.

No other injuries were reported.
