CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

University of Cincinnati police continue to search for the gunman they say fired at least one shot on campus Monday night.

Campus safety officials are calling it an “isolated incident" likely connected to marijuana found near the scene.

The shooting prompted a manhunt and shelter-in-place order for students shortly after 8 p.m.. It was lifted about an hour later.

No one was hurt, and everyone is safe, UC Director of Public Safety James Whalen said.

Police interviewed suspects Tuesday, but no arrests were announced.

"UCPD has received credible information regarding the incident and is in the process of interviewing suspects," reads part of a prepared statement from the university's public safety department.

Students returning to class Tuesday morning said the shooting still had them a bit on edge.

The shooting, reported shortly on the east side of campus near Dabney Hall after 8 p.m., prompted a temporarily shelter-in-place on campus as police and fire vehicles swarmed streets.

Police advised students to stay in their dorm rooms with doors locked as officers conducted a floor-by-floor search for the gunman.

"At the time it did not register to me that it was a shot," said student Ryan Miller. "I started looking around to see if someone had fallen or something like that."

Whalen said two people were talking when one drew a handgun and fired at the other and then took off.

The suspect fled through campus and remains  at large, eluding dozens of police officers and a K9.

He was described as black and 5'10."  He wore gray clothing.
