MASON, OH (FOX19) -

A domestic violence suspect who prompted a SWAT team to respond to a Mason home overnight  briefly eluded police before he was taken into custody early Wednesday.

Michael Dixon arrested without incident just before 4 a.m. in the area of Forsythe Place and St. Lawrence Drive off Butler-Warren Road, said Sgt. Craig Kline.

"He was just walking down the road,"Kline said. "One of our patrol officers who was out looking for him saw him."

Dixon was not armed with a weapon, Kline said.

He will be taken to the Warren County Jail and booked on several charges, including domestic violence and disrupting public services, according to Kline.

Overnight, authorities cautioned Dixon might be in possession of a firearm when they announced he escaped shortly before they arrived at a residence in the 700 block of Forsythe Place late Tuesday.

Police  and the Warren County Tactical Response Team were called to investigate a domestic violence situation reported just before 9 p.m.

SWAT officers tried to negotiate with Dixon before finally going into the home about five hours later, where they realized he already had escaped before they arrived, Kline said.
