Suspects charged in Covington shooting are 14-year-olds

Two 14-year-olds were arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that seriously wounded a man overnight, police said.

The teens were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit when officers said they spotted them emerging from a wooded area leading to the City Heights Housing Complex.

The shooting was reported about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Highland and Jefferson avenues.

They juveniles were booked into the Campbell County Regional Juvenile Detention Center early Wednesday.

They are being held without bond pending the outcome of a hearing.

The victim, who was shot in the chest, remains at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Covington by private car about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Shortly after, he was airlifted to UCMC. 

His name, age and condition were not released.
