SWITZERLAND CO (FOX19) -

Storm damage is delaying schools from opening on time in one southeastern Indiana district Thursday.

Rising Sun Schools-Ohio County Community Schools are on a 2-hour delay.

This was one of the worst-hit areas in the Tri-State when severe weather prompted the National Weather Service to issue several tornado warnings from Northern Kentucky to southeastern Indiana Wednesday night.

The warnings all expired by 7 p.m., but not before knocking out power and ripping out trees and gutters.

About 1,000 people in the Independence-area of Northern Kentucky woke up without power Thursday. Large hail also fell.

Several viewers in southeastern Indiana reported seeing hail the size of golf balls.
