(CNN) - Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is the latest Republican to announce he's voting for Democrat Hillary Clinton for president.

Powell revealed his choice Tuesday at a luncheon in Long Island, New York.

He has been quite critical of Republican nominee Donald Trump. Hacked e-mails released in September revealed Powell referring to the real estate mogul as a "national disgrace and international pariah."

Powell has also been tough on Clinton. He pushed back against reports suggesting he gave Clinton the idea to use a private email server as Secretary of State.

Powell backed President Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Despite the recent voting history, Powell said last year he still sees himself as a Republican.

Clinton responded to the news via Twitter, saying she was "proud to have the endorsement of General Powell, a decorated soldier and distinguished statesman."
