MOUNT WASHINGTON (FOX19) -

A 55-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash in Mt. Washington early Wednesday, according to Cincinnati police.

Eric Baker lost control of his 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis as he drove it north on Corbly Road near Rainbow Lane about 1:30 a.m., traffic officers said in a prepared statement.

The vehicle ran off the road and slammed into a tree, trapping and critically injuring him.

Firefighter extricated Baker and transported him to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died.

Excessive speed is a factor, police said.

Baker wore his seatbelt.

Corbly Lane was shut down for several hours overnight. It just reopened at 4:50 a.m.
