Cincinnati’s first responders are being honored for going beyond the call of duty at Cincinnati Christian University.

The university welcomed Cincinnati Fire Chief Richard Braun, Sheriff Jim Neil, and Cincinnati Fire Chief Eliot Isaac along with other police and fire professionals to its 12th Annual Beyond the Call chapel service Thursday morning.

"CCU greatly respects first responders who intercede for us daily to keep our communities safe. This annual chapel service is a way for our faculty, staff, and students to convey our deep gratitude to those who go above and beyond," says Interim President David Ray.

The following Beyond the Call award recipients include:

Community Service & Problem Solving: Cincinnati Fire Department Dispatch Team and Emergency Operations Center

Devotion to Duty: Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Gary Keeton and Cincinnati Police Department's Training Academy

Career Achievement: Cincinnati Fire Department's District Chief Greg Potter

Bravery & Valor: Cincinnati Police Officer Anthony Brucato and Cincinnati Police Officer Patrick Galligan.

Each award recipient received a proclamation from Hamilton County Commissioners Dennis Deters, Chris Monzel and Todd Portune, Mayor John Cranley, Ohio State Senator Bill Seitz, and Congress-man Steve Chabot.

The Beyond the Call chapel service began with a bagpipe processional by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Pipe and Drum Corps, presentation of colors by the Cincinnati Police Department's Honor Guard, and the singing of the national anthem by Cincinnati Police Officer Al Staples.

Cincinnati Christian University's acapella ensemble Resonate also performed.
