Car plows into line of people outside Dairy Queen

Customers lined up outside a Dairy Queen had quite a scare last night. Witnesses say a speeding car in Gastonia, North Carolina, ran out of control and plowed into two lines of people -- throwing some as far as 20 feet and knocking some out of their shoes. Five people were injured.

Witnesses said the car appeared to have been racing with another car when it hit a utility pole and spun into the customers. Police say both drivers fled after the accident. No arrests have been made.

The Dairy Queen's owner says he and his employees called 911 and then handed out rubber gloves and paper towels to help the injured. He says "You could hear the impact of the pole, the squeal of the tires and then all the people screaming."
