CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

Real Christmas trees can be very dangerous if they aren't watered.

In a video posted to Fire Tech and Safety of New England Inc. Facebook page, you see a not water Christmas tree catch fire very quickly.

You see flames in fewer than five seconds, and by 10 seconds the smoke filled the room and flames reach the ceiling.

Nearby furniture starts burning in fewer than 20 seconds, and under 45 seconds the room fills with so much smoke it goes dark.

You also learn that from 2010 to 2012 there were an average of 200 Christmas tree fires a year, resulting in 10 deaths, 20 injuries and $17 million in property loss.

The video then shows a Christmas tree that was water daily.  There severity of the burn if significantly less than a tree that is not watered daily.
