CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The University of Cincinnati will not be naming a new head football coach on Friday.
When FOX19 NOW reached out to UC Athletic Director Mike Bohn via text asking if the school was trending towards a deal, he replied: "Nothing today."
There could still be serious movement on getting a deal done this weekend.
UC has scheduled a Board of Trustees meeting Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Per the release, the purpose of the meeting is to consider the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee.
A source tells FOX19 NOW Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell is the favorite to land the job at UC. However, negotiations are not ongoing yet.
It's been six days since Tommy Tuberville submitted his resignation and stepped down as UC's head football coach. Since then, several names have been
swirling as possible candidates for the job.
Clay Hall of WSYX-TV in Columbus is reporting that a number of coaches have reached out to Fickell requesting to be a part of his staff if he were named the next head coach at UC.
