Indiana man dead following crime spree in southern California
Authorities say an Indiana man with a troubled past went on a two-day crime spree in southern California that left four people dead and five hospitalized before he killed himself inside a Wal-Mart store.
Authorities are still trying to determine what set off former Air Force captain Toby Whelchel. So far, they've discovered a connection between him and one of the victims.
One of the dead was an attorney who was granted a restraining order against Welchel, saying he was "dangerous and violent."
Whelchel was found dead inside a Wal-Mart in Simi Valley, California, yesterday morning after a police chase. It's not known where in Indiana Whelchel lived or when he lived in the state.
