Laguna Landslide

No new reports of landslides in Laguna Beach, California

Police in Laguna Beach, California, say they have no reports of landslides overnight.

Seventeen homes were destroyed and eleven were damaged there when the ground gave way yesterday morning. That led officials to evacuate a-thousand people from their homes. And authorities say some of them may be able to return to their houses today.

The cause of the landslide is still being investigated. However, geologists say they believe it was related to storms that drenched the region this winter.

Meantime, the state's insurance commissioner says most residents who lost their homes probably weren't covered for landslides.
