The 13-year-old boy accused of murdering his grandfather was ruled competent to stand trial.
Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Melissa Powers made the decision Monday.
Mount Health Police said Fowler Agenbroad, 80, was unresponsive and had head trauma when he was found in his home on Aug. 5, 2016.
Police arrested his grandson last week. FOX19 is now naming him right now because of his age.
Our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer say the boy lived with his grandfather since birth. Police said Agenbroad had custody of his grandson because both of his parents had died of drug overdoses.
The boy was 12-years-old at the time of the alleged crime.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said he previously had been accused of assaulting his grandfather.
The child's next court appearance is set for April 3.
