Dayton Power and Light announced Monday that two stations will be retired by June of 2018.

The J.M. Stuart station in Brown County and the Killen Station in Adams County "will not be economically viable beyond mid-2018," stated a news release from DP&L.

Approximately 490 workers will be impacted, according to DP&L officials.

The power provider said that after a thorough review of options, without significant changes in market conditions, the decision was made to cease operations.

The statement also reads, "DP&L recognizes the extent of the impact and uncertainty this decision creates for our people. The Company is fully committed to proactively managing workforce transitions related to the closure of these generation units."

No details about the "workforce transitions" were given.
