AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - A new photo released Tuesday shows Cincinnati Zoo's beloved hippo Fiona catching a glimpse of her parents in their outdoor habitat.
Fiona isn't quite ready to venture out herself but is getting familiar with the look and smell of the outdoors, the zoo said.
A changing climate will impact a hippo's habitat. River systems and wetlands are a major part of a hippo's life, but the zoo said increasing global temperatures and shifts in precipitation patterns will lessen the amount of water these lands receive, directly impacting a hippo's home.
On Monday, the zoo said that Fiona is continuing to grow and is doing well. She currently weighs 112 pounds.
