HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. -

The wildly popular “giraffe cam” out of New York’s Animal Adventure Park will come down this week.

Park officials are set to end the live feed between Wednesday and Friday “as planned from the beginning,” the park wrote on Facebook.

Millions of people viewed the live stream for weeks in anticipation of April giving birth. On Saturday, more than 1.2 million people watched the birth of a nearly six-foot tall male calf.

The park said they were overwhelmed with emails after viewers noticed April twisted her leg Monday.

“Bogging down of email servers and other platforms is the exact reason the giraffe cam will need be pulled,” the park said. “While we appreciate the concern, it is interfering with normal park operations and preparation for opening; at a period when our resource of time is limited and cannot be hindered.”

Animal Adventure Park’s YouTube channel became the second most live-viewed channel in YouTube’s history.

Fans can help name the calf by paying $1 and submitting their pick at nameaprilscalf.com.
