CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A large crowd of people filled Fountain Square for the March for Science.
The event was held Saturday in conjunction with Earth Day.
A number of scientists spoke and then the crowd marched to the Cincinnati Public Library and City Hall.
People posted photos on social media before and after the event took place.
"The March for Science Cincinnati champions publicly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity," said a news release from organizers.
"It's not about scientists or politicians, it is about the very real role that science plays in each of our lives and the need to respect and encourage research that gives us insight into the world."
Similar events were held in cities across the country and around the world.
