FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) -

A driver sent a handwritten note to police after being stopped for speeding.

Franklin Police posted a photo of the letter on Facebook Wednesday.

Chief Russ Whitman says the driver was stopped after Officer Dennis Shannon noticed the vehicle driving 64 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.

The driver writes, in part, "Just a note to apologize for my speeding. It was totally wrong- and Officer Shannon was exceptionally professional and a wonderful representative of the law enforcement."

The driver goes on to apologize, saying "This was a mistake and I appreciate the reminder/corrective action."

Chief Whitman thanked the writer for being "so thoughtful and kind."
