OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19 NOW) -

Buddy LaRosa Way was unveiled Wednesday in Over-The-Rhine.

A portion of Elder Street, right across from  Findlay Market, was renamed for the founder of the LaRosa's pizza chain.

"The city's been very good to me. I sold shopping bags right on this corner for 3 cents when I was 10 years old," said founder Buddy LaRosa. "Now I'm selling pizza in the same city to wonderful people of Cincinnati, just a great community."

City leaders announced the honor during Wednesday's city council meeting.

"There aren't many times when dad's brought to tears, and he was moved to tears today because of it. this was such a surprise," said Mike LaRosa.

Buddy opened his first restaurant on the west side in 1954.

There are now 65 locations, across the Tri-State.
