CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Motorists are asked to detour onto northbound I-75. From there, take eastbound Norwood Lateral to return to northbound I-71.

Road work and the closure is contingent on weather and could be rescheduled.

Showers and storms are expected to move into the area after 4 p.m., and there is a slight risk for severe ones after 6 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday.

Full details:

  • At 10 p.m. Friday, the 4th Street ramp in Covington and a single right lane will close on northbound I-71 across the Brent Spence Bridge.
  • At 11 p.m.,all lanes of northbound I-71 will shut down. That will include the 2nd Street on and off-ramps, all the way across eastbound Fort Washington Way and through the Lytle Tunnel.
  • Northbound I-71 will reopen at the Reading Road exit, but construction will block the left lanes until the Norwood Lateral.
  • The I-471 on-ramp will remain open.

In addition, bridge deck removal will requires parts of Eggleston Avenue, Culvert Street and Sentinel Street to close nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day Monday through May 5 and again May 8 until May 12.

Traffic will be maintained during this work.

Also, the ramp from I-71 south to I-471 south and the ramp from Liberty Street/Reading Road to I-471 south will close nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. May 8 through May 12.

REMINDER: TRUCK DETOUR: All northbound I-75/I-71 trucks are asked to use I-75 to the Norwood Lateral back to I-71 or I-275 to I-471 back to I-71 until approximately September, 2017.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zones and various closures.

Motorists are advised to remain alert, slow down and watch for stopped traffic in all work zones.
