Diaper Rash Death

Manslaughter plea for woman in toddler's diaper rash death

A Pennsylvania woman has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of her toddler son from a fatal infection.

Authorities say 15-month-old Harley Livingston's severe diaper rash led to a fatal sepsis infection late last year. Doctors testified at a preliminary hearing for Amy Livingston that Harley could have survived with basic care. Livingston also pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges for not treating the rash on an older son. The four-year-old was successfully treated. Livingston faces sentencing in August.

Her mother, who directs a day-care center where the two children often stayed, also faces charges in the case because she allegedly didn't carry out her responsibility to report suspected abuse or neglect.
