Tropical Storm Bret

Tropical Storm Bret moving into Mexico

Tropical Storm Bret, the second tropical storm to develop in the Gulf of Mexico this young hurricane season, is approaching the Mexican coastline.

Bret is just barely a tropical storm, with top winds of 40 miles an hour. The National Hurricane Center says the storm is centered just off the coast, about 250 miles south of the Texas border, and moving to the west-northwest.

Tropical storm warnings have been issued for parts of the Mexican coast, with three to six inches of rain forecast -- and more possible in mountainous areas. Tropical Storm Arlene hit the Florida Panhandle earlier this month.
